After KL in Aug, Ipoh in Sep.. I went Kedah in Oct ;p
It’s a 10hrs trip to Sg. Petani, Alor Setar n Baling… @7.10.07
One week 7 days – woke up at 630am… Blur blur brushed up and got into car with mom, dajie n Herk… then started our journey to the North..
By using the North-South Highway, very fast we arrived Sg. Petani Selatan (tol RM3.60).. but, dajie forgot where is the dimsum shop.. so we tried to round round n searched for it.. saw Giant, Billion, 2 The Store (1 at centre square).. then, we found a dimsum shop, but it’s not the one dajie tried before.. so, finally we surrendered n called dajie’s SP fren to ask for it’s location.. Rupa-rupanya, we’re in correct area, just missed a turn ;p
It’s actually, after tol.. 2nd traffic light (Giant there) turn right.. then again 2nd traffic light (between shophouses) turn left into Taman Intan.. then go straight n passed-by single-storey houses.. then it’s on the right.. named Dai You Bin HK dimsum.. 3 shops merged together!!
The dimsum there really nice nice nice!!! The porridge is delicious, can compete with Maxim one, just i felt it’s abit salty, u all know my taste, so may be not salty to u all.. haha.. the fried yam ball (wu gok) also very very nice.. choices are a lot and environment is cozy~~ price is reasonable.. we ate a lot only RM43..
After that, we heading to Alor Setar.. without a proper map (can’t find one detail map of Kedah in bookshops).. we just followed all cacat signboard to get there..
One thing very pissed off is, the necessary signboard for highway/local/tourist hot spot are rarely can be seen BUT almost every 50m there is a signboard of “jalan motosikal”.. mind you, the road there is very confusing and the signboard of JM are useless over there.. coz no one actually follow.. I think just a trick for ‘someone’ to earn more money from building those signboards!!
About 1hr+ journey by using old way, passed by Gua Cempedak/Yan/Sik n so on, we arrived Alor Setar!!
The town here is similar with SP but with more trees, much more than in Penaqng island.. so syok!.. so many ‘kebangsaan’ schools here and they are all much bigger than MMU, even some just a primary school at a ulu location!!! I only saw one big school of Chinese, that is Keat Hwa..
Coz the signboard was again confusing, we asked an big car uncle who stopped beside our car at the traffic light there.. haha.. the uncle very nice, he led us to the split point (where he was going opposite direction with us).. the drew us a map to go to Paddy Museum.. he is so nice!!
As there is no signboard at all.. we followed the map and also asked some locals, finally we arrived a very deep kampung and found the Paddy Museum.. walao, si pek ULU!! How oversea tourist can find it??? Lousy planning!!! And, we realized a signboard wrote “muzium padi” at the opposite direction!!!! Shit~!!!
Guess what?! There is a big big LION~!! Without wasting any second, I took a lot of pic with it ;p;p.. The entrance fee is RM3 for adult and camera will be charged.. the fat short encik die die wanna charge us the camera of our HANDPHONE!! Siao ar, bo tak chek, hp also wan charge??? Then why they didn’t state that but want to charge us?? Baka!! Of course we ignore him!!
There are 2 parts of the museum: upper n lower floor. The upper floor very ‘upper’.. so many staircases (although with carpet) very inconvenient for older people. What do they have on there? It’s a round wall with painting of the Paddy field + people.. the scenery painting actually not bad, very clear and real.. just the floor, which suppose to function as automatic turning ground, was out of function!! I think they just want to safe electricity.. very bad! Cheated all visitors!!
Then we went to lower floor, this only ease my pain.. because it’s really resourceful here.. It displays all the equipments and process that use by farmer to plant the seed, catch the birds, harvesting and so on.. I didn’t read all the information because it’s abit long.. just listen to mom n dajie’s explanations.. RM3 for it, ok la~
Next destination is find a place for lunch.. what is nice here?.. hmm.. better call call my AS honey – Ree Guang.. haha.. he brought us to try ‘cai bo fish’, very special ^^.. he is so famous, very busy to say hi to people in the restaurant.. and we also met my uncle 10 in AS, so shocked, haha~
After lunch, we bid farewell to Guang and continued our journey.. we thought of going Pantai Merdeka.. but attracted by the signboard “Hutan Rekreasi Air Panas Ulu Legong”.. so we followed that..
AGAIN!! The signboard only appeared once!!! So we just go straight, and keep asking locals for direction.. the signboard was so wrong!!! The spot is not in AS!!! Is in Baling!! The stupid signboard made us drove about 50-60km instead of a short distance using highway!!
Finally, we arrived at the Hot Spring BALING.. RM2 per entry and parking RM1.. there also chalet to rent (RM100-120).. the condition is out of my expectation~.. I expect is an untreated environment but I was wrong.. the place been decorated nicely.. wash room was cleaned as well as the pool~.. there are also playgrounds and hut for rest..
We changed to short pants and took some pictures before go into the pool.. there are 3 pools, one for kid (normal temperature to warm), one for adult ( I think it’s 35 degree Celsius n above) and one for no one (because you can see the steam clearly above the water – so hot!)..
We went to the adult pool where got people soaking their leg, bath themselves with hot water by towels.. we THOUGHT is not very hot… but, the fact is very hot.. I only alternatively ‘touch’ the water with my feet.. haha.. it’s hotter than in taiwan’s.. I tried to soak my leg in once, but really just 2 seconds.. :”>:”>:”>
We left after 10mins because it started to rain.. near to hill is like that, tropika forest, alwiz rain.. anyway, we’re ok with it as we planned to come again ^^
It’s already 4pm+.. we followed the Baling direction, passed by Baling town (we couldn’t get down from car coz the rain turned heavier), left Kedah by went through Kulim.. and arrived B’worth at 5pm+..
Our SP+AS trip ended after 2 meals and 2 spots.. we had our dinner at Kapitan (the kopitiam I’d introduced before which located next to Sunway Carnival mall and have wifi service).. so so tired and went back to watch Jacky Wu’s 周日八点党 and Season 3’s 阿贤人情味 ;p;p;p
It’s a special experience, I like this style of traveling.. I did that for my Sekinchan-Teluk Intan-Pangkor trip n Ipoh trip before, drove there just for local food and meet old friends.. the feeling is very good~~ looking forward for Kedah-Perlis-Hatyai trip, Perak-Tanjung Sepat trip and maybe more.. hehe..
